System concept

The system is designed to be easily adjustable, modifiable and manageable. Its individual components (HW or SW) have been developed based on modern and proven technologies. Every element is persistent - it has either its own backup power supply or it remembers its state before any loss of power supply so that it can refresh itself automatically.

Used communication is wireless. That is why installation and any reconfiguration is very quick and easy. The communication is, of course, treated against interference or unauthorized access. The reach corresponds to the ZigBee standard - approximately up to 30 meters inside buildings and up to 300 meters in open space. This allows compiling large and functional sys-tems using only a few components.

However, every component minimizes its own energy consumption and electromagnetic smog. The system provides automatic construction of the network and dynamic reconfiguration of the network, which is important in case of failure.


Components

The system consists of central unit, which sends commands and receives different signals, and surrounding satellite switches / meters / sensors, which these commands execute or send their own signals. To one central unit can be connected up to 1000 satellite devices.

  1. Central unit is a small computer with a special communica-tion modem. It is designed to have minimal energy consumption and modern design with full color touch screen (or classical screen in cheaper alternative). User can control the system directly from the central unit or from other connected devices (eg. other PC). In the central unit also run many other applications (eg. internet phone or videophone).
  2. Satellite - as the name suggests - is essentially a self-functioning device that communicates with the central unit. This small electronic device is made of micro-computer, communication module and other modules like switches, meters or sensors.

Wireless network

Used wireless network technology in free band 2.4 GHz is standardized and has following features:

  • Robust and reliable
  • Automatic and dynamic self-building and reconfiguration of the network; adding and removing devices on the run
  • Tree, star or linear topology
  • Every satellite works as end-point as well as transceiver for communication with farer devices
  • Authentication and strong encryption for secure communication
  • Open protocol for connecting third-party devices
  • Every device has its own unique MAC-address

Connectable devices

Any devices can be connected (for electricity one- or three-phase); in the case of electricity two types of satellites are used: plug into standard outlet, into switching-box on DIN line or with batteries

The system is very openned to other vendors. There can be connected various detectors with relay non-potential output (eg. movement detectors, termostats, smoke detectors, etc.) and any other devices with its own logic which can communicate through given application protocol of the ENcontrol system.
